Worlds & Stories
People don't live in a vacuum. Ember lets you organize your relationships into Worlds, and weave your entries into ongoing Stories.
Configuring Worlds
A World is a context where relationships exist—like "College," "Work," or "Climbing Group."
- Creating a World: Go to the Worlds tab and click the `+` icon to create a new World. You can assign it a custom color.
- Assigning People: When you add a new person, you can assign them to one or more Worlds. This helps you filter your journal and graph.
Crafting Stories
A Story is a collection of journal entries that span across time, ignoring the linear constraints of a traditional journal.
- Ongoing Stories: Group related entries—like "The Launch Sprint" or "Diwali at Home"—into a Story. A Story can span years.
- Story Covers: Make your Stories visual by adding a cover image.
- Linking Entries: When writing a new entry, type
&followed by the Story name to append it as a new chapter.
