Find & Tag People
If you're importing a massive journal from Day One, you probably have years of entries where people are mentioned by name but aren't properly "tagged." The Find & Tag tool solves this automatically.
How it Works
The Find & Tag People tool scans your entire journal history. It looks for names and capitalizations that look like people you might know.
The names the detector finds sit in a list. For each name, you can do one of three things:
- Create a New Person: If this is someone important, create a new person in your Ember graph.
- Add as a Nickname: If the detector found "Mom" or "Alex" and you already have them in your graph, you can assign that name as a nickname to the existing person. Ember will now recognize both.
- Not a Person: Sometimes the detector gets confused by capitalized words (like "March" or "Apple"). Just click "Not a person" to dismiss it forever.
Tagging the Entries
Once you've told Ember who these names belong to, you can review the matches. With a single click, Ember will retroactively tag that person across all your past journal entries, instantly building their profile, their graph connections, and their timeline.
This is the fastest way to bring an imported Day One journal to life.
